I’ve been busy stitching here. I created two new designs, one that’s all done and another that I have in my head that I will get drawn up today.
I thought you would like to see this one in progress from design to finished hoop!
And here it is all done!
The one in my head, will be a play on this hoop. This is an oval 3 1/2″ by 5″ hoop that I thought could grace a Thanksgiving table, be set on a mantle or even beside a comfy armchair for prayer time. I just love the autumn colors.
I have a few other ones in my head to create a complete collection, and I hope people will love them as much as I love designing them!
I’ve been working a bit backwards as I worked on Christmas ornaments first and now Thanksgiving, so maybe I’ll work on St. Valentine’s Day hoops next. I just finished a live radio show, A Seeking Heart with Allison Gingras. I’m on the last Monday of every month. Usually we talk about social media. This month, we talked about the #write31days challenge, and what we learned. I, of course, learned that it’s hard to write and stitch at the same time! I have done my best so far, and I’ve blogged more than I would have without the challenge. It’s all about accepting the challenge and doing what you can to meet it everyday. Kind of like prayer. Every morning, my sons and I start a rosary in the car. We may not get through all of it, but we’ve prayed more together than we would have if we just opted to have a quiet ride.
I made a friend, which has been a total highlight: Samantha over at Mama Bice Makes and mentioned her on the show, too. We have a private Instagram message going all the time where we share tips, resources, and encouragement with one another. She didn’t have her shop opened either when I started this blog and now she’s all set up! I showed my boys her Instagram feed this morning and they went bonkers. They want everything she makes.
We also alternated Scoping the show for the very first time. Here’s my segment and here’s Allison’s segment. It was a little stressful because I couldn’t keep talking to the viewers on Periscope. We’re talking double live, here: radio + Periscope! I think we’ll Blab it next month!
So while I haven’t been a complete success in the challenge, I have pushed myself beyond personal boundaries and goals that I’ve set for myself:
- I started hand lettering
- I started making soap
- I took 6 Barre3 classes in 7 days for their challenge
- I created 4 new designs (2 of those custom orders)
- I’ve made 3 sales
- I made a friend
I kinda like that last one the most, though. Making friends as an adult is tough, especially ones that get what you’re into because they’re into it, too.
Happy Stitching, I’ve got to get to drawing!
