It’s been a couple of weeks, but that’s because I’ve got a lot going on round these parts; some boring, some exciting but, that’s life!

And now, May. When did the year decide it would take off without me. Without you? Without us!? The nerve. My youngest son is making his First Holy Communion this Saturday and while I planned to embellish his communion banner with hand embroidery – no such luck. It was all felt and glitter glue. The plan I had in my head though Gorgeous!
Making :: Another Floral Mason Jar Hoop, but with a sweet, inspirational message. I liked the placement that I chose for the words. It’s slightly different and unexpected.
Cooking :: Since I am writing this on Tuesday, I’m making tacos tonight. But Wednesday, it’s Slow Cooker Picadillo day. I make this recipe quite a bit, but it was all Gabriel’s request. Alex requested the Friday meal, but doesn’t know that I am adding asparagus to it. So I’m a cooking girl this week. Here’s the plan for this week:
- Monday: Corned Beef and Love Fries (just Gabriel’s way of saying french fries) with Rice
- Tuesday: Tacos
- Wednesday: Slow Cooker Picadillo
- Thursday: Leftovers
- Friday: Salmon with Lemon Butter Sauce and Garlicky Parmesan Pasta
- Saturday: Communion Linner (combo lunch and dinner – Italian)
- Sunday: Mother’s Day Brunch with my boys
Reading :: Right now I am reading The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. It’s historical fiction based on the romance between Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley. So far, so great. I love Hemingway’s writing style, but can imagine if his style was anything like the man, it would be a tough wife life. And so it is. Anyone else read it?
Wanting :: Some downtime. I know. It’s the little things. With Gabriel’s Communion, we have a huge family get-together happening at a restaurant, then the party continues at my house. That’s all fine – but Mother’s Day is Sunday! So, more makeup 😉 My guys are taking me out to brunch. Bonus, because my step-son will be here too! He cracks me up and makes the kids SO happy. Talk about a gift, all my guys taking me out to eat.
Loving :: Well, I can’t not mention Prince’s untimely passing. I immediately cranked up my favorites. As I was listening to “Work It” I was struck with an idea and created this, feverishly – albeit peppered with grief, and listed it in the shop. Such a creative talent that we will never see again in our lifetime.
Thinking :: About how I want to structure my business. I am taking the summer off. Yep, you heard it here first. I’ll still be around on social media, this here site and sending out The Stitchy Scoop, but I will take the summer off to stock up, create and spend time poolside with my boys. I want to take time to really be inspired. Go on flower walks, head out to Lake George and soak in some Adirondack vibes. I know my stitching will be the better for it. That’s scary to some, to close a shop that’s new and just gaining traction, but I feel peaceful about it. So I know it’s right.
Working on :: Necklaces. I finally got the mini hoops in stock, so I will just spend the rest of the spring stitching to my hearts content. I still have a few left and am offering free shipping for Mother’s Day with the code LOVEMOM at checkout! But, book stacks with teacups are up next!
